Volvo 112 mph limit removal:
From your driveway.
Since model year 2021 every new Volvo is capped at 112 mph (180 km/h) – in the US, in the UK and everywhere else. We remove the cap by software coding over a remote connection from Germany. You plug in an ENET cable, we do the rest – no dealer, no workshop, no shipping.
* depending on model and engine – see the table below
Background
Why is my Volvo capped at 112 mph?
As part of its safety strategy, Volvo limits the top speed of every car from model year 2021 on to 112 mph – an XC90 T8 just like a V60 B5. Engine, brakes and chassis are built for more; the cap is a value in the software.
We reset this value by coding, so your Volvo reaches the speed its engine and factory calibration allow again – on cars with Sensus and with Google built-in. TorqueLogic® is a Volvo software specialist in Germany and codes by remote for customers across Europe, the UK and the US.

Good to know
Removing the limiter does not change any speed limit on public roads.
Your tyres must be rated for the speed your car can reach – the speed rating letter on the sidewall: H = 130 mph, V = 149 mph, W = 168 mph, Y = 186 mph.
Tell your insurer about the change. In the UK, modifications usually have to be declared to your insurer.
Rules differ between states and countries – we do not give legal advice. Performance upgrades (OEM software) can also affect your vehicle approval.
FAQ
112 mph limit removal – FAQ
Can you remove the 112 mph limit on a Volvo in the USA or the UK?
Yes. The coding is done by remote connection from Germany: you connect your Volvo to a Windows laptop with an ENET cable and start a small remote program – we do the rest, usually in 20–30 minutes. Your car stays in your driveway or garage.
Which Volvo models are limited to 112 mph?
Every Volvo from model year 2021 on, worldwide – for example XC40, XC60, XC90, S60, V60 and V60 Cross Country, S90, V90 and V90 Cross Country, with Sensus or with Google built-in. For fully electric models the limit can be raised but not removed completely; we check your VIN first.
How fast will my Volvo go without the 112 mph limit?
As fast as engine, gearbox and factory calibration of your model allow – depending on the engine up to about 155 mph (250 km/h). On the T6 and T8 Recharge plug-in hybrids with Google built-in we raise the limit to 137 mph (220 km/h). We tell you in advance what to expect for your VIN.
What do I need for the remote session?
An ENET cable (OBD to Ethernet, available from online shops for little money), a Windows laptop with internet and about 30 minutes. If your laptop has no network port, a USB-to-Ethernet adapter works. All details in our remote guide.
When can we do the session in my time zone?
Our remote hours are 9 am – 8 pm (Mon–Fri) and 10 am – 2 pm (Sat) German time – that is 8 am – 7 pm in the UK and 3 am – 2 pm US Eastern time on weekdays. Sunday on request (+€50).
How much does it cost and how do I pay?
The 112 mph limit removal costs €450. Together with the OEM performance software you pay €950 instead of €1,200. Prices are final prices in EUR; you pay by payment link and your card or bank converts the amount. As a small business under German law (§ 19 UStG) we do not charge VAT.
What about my warranty and dealer software updates?
The coding can be reset to the factory setting at any time by remote – for example before a dealer visit or the end of a lease. If you are unsure about your warranty, ask your dealer first. A dealer or over-the-air software update can reset codings; in that case we simply apply it again.
Is it legal?
Removing the limiter does not change any speed limit on public roads. Your tyres must be rated for the speed your car can reach, and you should tell your insurer about the change – in the UK, modifications usually have to be declared. Rules differ between states and countries; we do not give legal advice.
More than 112 mph?
Send us your model, model year and VIN – we check your car and get back to you with an appointment in your time zone, usually the same day.
