FAQ
Remote coding – FAQ
What is an ENET cable?
An ENET cable connects the OBD port of your Volvo to the network port of a laptop. It is the standard interface for Volvo diagnostics and coding and is available from online shops for little money. If your laptop has no network port, you also need an Ethernet-to-USB-C adapter.
Which laptop do I need?
A Windows 10 or 11 laptop with a stable internet connection – Wi-Fi or a mobile hotspot near the car. Only free programs are needed; we explain everything before the appointment.
Can I watch what you do?
Yes. You see everything live on your screen during the whole session and can end the connection at any time with one click.
How long does it take?
Usually 20–30 minutes, depending on the number of features.
Does it work in my country and time zone?
Remote coding works across Europe – and, after a VIN check, beyond. We agree on an appointment time that suits your time zone.
What if something goes wrong?
Before coding we read out and check the control units. All codings can be reset to factory settings. If a Volvo update resets a coding later, we apply it again.
Ready for your session?
Send us model, year and VIN – we check compatibility and agree on a time that suits your time zone.
